Humanity at its best and its worst

Located at the crossroads of trade and travel between Asia, Europe and Africa; part of the Holy Land, with several mentions in the Bible. For many centuries, Lebanon has been a land familiar with humanity at its most diverse, its best – and its worst. 

Political turmoil has never been far away in modern Lebanon’s history, with complex internal sectarianism and interactions with neighbouring countries that shape Lebanon’s foreign and internal policy. Regional disputes, military actions and occupations have brought hardship to its population over several recent decades. 

For many years, refugees fleeing various troubled parts of the world have found a home in Lebanon. The current influx of refugees from neighbouring Syria is presenting one of Lebanon’s biggest challenges, placing severe strain on the country’s resources.  

It is a nation that needs our prayers. More
