A Letter from our Zambia Director!

Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world. But the lives of hundreds of children in our programmes are being changed! Our Director, Jim Kongwa, explains how...

What a wonderful message of hope the Christmas story provides. The children in our Homes in Zambia are excitedly looking forward to Christmas – and it is our prayer that the amazing good news of the birth of Jesus Christ will continue to touch them and change their lives!

Being enrolled in our programmes has been a life changing event for many of our children in Kids Alive Zambia. As well as providing a roof above their heads, nutritious meals and an education, it gives these kids the opportunity to hear and learn about a God who loves them.

Our residential programs in Zambia continue to expand and  we are grateful  to  everyone that is partnering with us by sponsoring children or by providing other forms of support. The completion of our third house  and central kitchen at the Lilato Children’s Village in Mongu has enabled us rescue more children and also give our kids a central eating place, as well as room for a range of other activities.

We are also grateful to several Summer Teams that came this summer. Thanks to their hard work and commitment, we have three wonderful new playgrounds for our children in our Children’s Village and Schools in Mongu to use. Another team was able to help us carry out some medical check-ups of all of our children, and a further team helped us set up some computers and provided some excellent training programmes to assist us in their use. We are already looking ahead to having further teams partner with us in 2013!

Encouraging educational improvement and development in our children is one of our key goals.  Our Chudleigh  childen in Lusaka are privileged to be part of a local private school and we are pushing them to make the most of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is before them.

In Mongu, we are developing our school programmes with four new classrooms under construction at our Emmanuel School site. We are aiming to have this completed by January so that many children will be blessed and encouraged by their new facilities! Over the coming years we plan to construct more classrooms like these, to give more children the opportunity of an education.

We want to thank you for your faithfulness in supporting our work in Zambia! We recognize the trust that you have placed in us to care for these vulnerable children, and we are committed to doing all that we can to ensure that they reach their potential! Happy Christmas!
