How Your Support Made a Difference in South Sudan...

Four months ago, Kids Alive International International launched a special appeal to help respond to the desperate needs of orphans and vulnerable children in South Sudan. Our initial goal was to raise £4,000 to help provide food, clothing, medical care and an education to children that have been living on the streets or that are from other impoverished situations. The fantastic news to share with you is that we met this goal twice over by raising a total of more than £8,000! We would like to thank everyone that responded to this appeal!

These gifts came at a critical time. Because of the escalation in violence between South Sudan and Sudan there has been a steep rise in food and living costs in Wau – and a growing need to rescue orphans and vulnerable children. Thanks to support raised through our appeal we have been able to accomplish a number of goals, including:

- Rescuing two more young boys from the streets and giving them a home in our residential programme.

- Helping ten new children from the community - like the little girls pictured - to go to school for the first time, giving them an education they would otherwise not have had the opportunity to receive.

- Continuing to care for ten other boys already in the home - and saving them from a life on the streets.

In addition to the amount raised during the appeal, we have also received a donation that will enable us to start the construction of a new children’s home in South Sudan to house up to 32 children. We are in the process of finalising the plans for this and hope to begin the work in the next few months!
